Can anyone else believe that Thanksgiving is this week? This time of year comes so quickly and flies by. But one thing that suffers during the holidays is my skin. Between stress, eating bad and being so busy, my oily skin is prone to acne and breakouts.
This holiday season, I’m determined to take some much-needed ‘me’ time in-between holiday activities with a little help from Neutrogena®. I’d heard so many good things about the new Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Mask that I decided to pick it up and give it a try at my local Walmart. (It’s found in the acne isle!)
A breakthrough in acne treatment, the Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Mask powerfully treats your acne and allows skin to heal itself, for skin so clear and healthy, it glows. I personally like a little glow over the holidays! This mask used to only be available in Dermatologists’ offices and is now available at home with this patented mask. The mask is also chemical-free, FDA cleared, UVA/UVB-free and is not hot. Light Therapy treatment in a dermatologist office could cost ~$500 per treatment. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have $500, so I’ll take the more afforadable alternative please! As you see on the shelf you buy the mask that comes with the activator. The activator lasts for 30 sessions and when you’re done all you do is buy another activator at Walmart for $14.97 (or $0.50/day).
So I decided to do the Acne Mask once a day before I go to bed. Neutrogena® recommends using once a day for 12 weeks for best results but that you see a difference in a week! A few things I noticed when putting the product on is that the product is lightweight and comfortable for a relaxing treatment with a viewing slot that enables multi-tasking while using. The only thing that throws me a little off is how bright the lights are, my eyes have to adjust, but other than that the mask and aviator are wireless so you’re not connected to an outlet for 10 minutes. During this time I could do my nails, check my Instagram, take Gatsby out, or watch Gilmore Girls while letting the Acne Mask work on my skin!
Don’t be intimidated by the mask! It may look intense and like a hockey mask but it’s effective. I’m going to walk you through how to use this product below.
First off, when you get your box read the instructions. I took everything out and made sure I was doing everything correctly.
Second, wash and dry your face. You do this prior to each session to remove oil and makeup. I wash my face and use Clean & Clear®’s makeup dissolving facial cleansing wipes. This helps me get off everything I didn’t get when washing my face. Plus I love that it’s oil-free!
Next you open the over-ear arms and put on the Light Therapy Acne Mask like you would a pair of glasses.
Then, press and hold the power button for 1 second to begin your treatment. Keep your mask in place for the next 10 minutes and let the mask work its magic!
The mask will automatically turn off after 10 minutes, signaling that your session is done.
After each treatment the counter will show how many treatments you have left. Once it hits 0 you’ll buy a new Activator for more treatment sessions.
And there you go! I’ll let you know how my skin is feeling after using this product for a while. But so far I love it! Also, as a treat for you, I’ll be showing you what I do while I have my mask on and document it for you through my Instagram stories! I have 29 sessions left and have 29 things I can do while waiting to complete my daily treatment.
