Greetings from Yosemite! I’m out west for the week hiking, exploring and taking in the sights. I wasn’t sure how the wifi was going to be here, so I wrote this in advance! Below is a list of things I’m packing and some items that others recommended we bring in case you’re heading out this way soon.
Style Guide: a Complete Yosemite Packing List for Women
Hiking Shoes
The team at Merrell was kind enough to send me two pairs of hiking shoes when they learned about my trip! They sent the Moab Flight, which is a protective, cushioned trail runner designed to give you underfoot confidence in any trail condition. The colorful blue spoke to me, and I’m an 8.5 and it’s true to size. The second shoe they sent was Moab Speed in purple. This shoe is a lightweight, protective athletic hiker designed to give you the confidence to tackle any trail.
I was just going to wear my regular tennis shoes but was told this wouldn’t cut it at Yosemite so I’m happy I have two options that are appropriate for all the hiking we’re going to do. Merrell also threw in some hiking socks and this adorable hiking hat!
Comfortable Shorts
The weather is going to be all over the place with highs in the seventies and lows in the thirties. So I’ll be doing lots of layering! I packed my Adidas track pants and will pack them away during the day and have some shorts underneath. The hype of the Free People shorts is real. I bought two pairs and have worn them nonstop! I’m wearing a size medium. They have a liner in so if they ride up, your booty isn’t exposed, and comes in plain colors or fun prints.
Also, bring a few pairs of bike shorts to wear lounging around the Air BNB and if we head into town. They’re comfortable and look cute with an oversized tee thrown over!
Girlfriend Sports Bras
When I’m hot, sweaty, and active, a shirt is the last thing I want on. I found Girlfriend Longline Sports Bra in the Paloma style and love them so much. I have three colors and they’re at a great price point. They’re long enough so that a sliver of your stomach shows but they’re comfortable and don’t budge. I’ll be wearing these every day!
Oversized Tees
My Yosemite theme is all about comfort. I’m going to be outside and enjoying the scenery so no one cares what I’m wearing! I’m packing a few oversized tees. I can wear them over my sports bra and bike shorts with sneakers and it still looks cute and casual. I found this tee dress at Free People and am excited to wear it!
Half Zip Windbreaker
Another thing that I think will come in handy is a windbreaker. Like a said, we’re going to have to wear lots of layers and this jacket I got from LL Bean was highly recommended and it’s packable. I like that it has multiple pockets so I can put my phone or sunglasses in there while we hike!
A Good Backpack
I’m bringing my camera and lenses so I can get some good shots for my recap post later as well as just for memories. I found this backpack on Amazon where you can customize the compartments, it also has a strap at the bottom for tripods. So I can add a compartment to keep my lens and camera body safe and then leave the rest for snacks and rolling up layers of clothing.
Misc. Items
Some miscellaneous items I brought were bug spray, sunscreen, Benadryl cream and pills (I read the mosquitoes get bad), a headlamp (to wear if we watch a sunset somewhere and need some light walking back), my gallon water bottle, some insulated bags (for transporting groceries), and travel mugs (to bring your coffee with you on the drive into the park in the morning, the drive could be up to an hour!)
Love this list! Fantastic suggestions! Crushing over the oversized tees!
