Next week, I’m heading to Miami and Key West for a week-long trip with the Babes That Wander. We have so many fun activities planned and after a cold and overcast week in Nashville, I’m craving some sunshine! As of now, the temps in Miami and Key West are in the eighties during the day and the low seventies at night. I wouldn’t be a good fashion blogger if I didn’t show you what I’m packing for my trip! See some pieces I got just for this trip below.
Style Guide: a Complete Key West Packing List for Women
All the Things From FARM Rio
FARM Rio is a brand that I’ve recently become obsessed with. Their pieces are fun, colorful, and at a pretty good price point. For this trip, I scooped up the Summer Dream Maxi Dress to wear with sandals or as a swimsuit coverup and the Rainbow Bananas Mini Dress to wear with heels for dinner. The prints are so out there that they belong in Key West!
Raffia Hats
I only pack raffia hats when I’m in warmer climates so your head doesn’t get at hot. My current favorite is visors. I can have a high pony or bun while still having a visor cover my face and keep me out of the sun. Of course, if visors aren’t your thing, you can always have a straw hat/fedora and wear your hair in a low bun or pony to keep it out of your face and off your neck.
Midi and Maxi Dresses
I’m leaving most of my mini dresses at home on this trip and sticking with midi and maxi dresses. We’re going to be doing quite a bit of walking and it’ll be warm so a longer length will be less fussy and more comfortable for a day of exploring and eating. No one wants to be in a body con or mini dress when there’s lots of food and drink involved!
Keds Sneakers or Vans
I’m packing a lot of skirts and dresses on this trip, so I’ll definitely be bringing my Keds, Vans, or Converse. I love these three brands because the sneakers are a little sleeker and dressier and a white sneaker is a perfect way to dress down any skirt or dress. We also plan on walking a lot and exploring the different parts of Miami and Key West so you have to have comfortable footwear!
Floral One Piece Swimsuit
I’m normally a two-piece kind of gal, but I’m crushing on floral one-piece swimsuits at the moment! I know, I know, florals for spring? Groundbreaking. But it’s a fun print for a swimsuit. I’ve got a one-piece tucked away in my swimsuit because you can’t go to Miami or Key West and not soak up the sun by a pool or sit in the sand at the beach.
Oversized Sunglasses
You have to be at your most glam in Key West and Miami. That means lounging by the pool in your caftan and some oversized sunglasses. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in the bright sun without eyewear. Protect your eyes from harmful UV rays and prevent wrinkles by having oversized sunnies so you don’t squint.
To summarize, my packing list includes pieces that aren’t fussy but also comfortable and glam. I have lots of fun prints, colorful patterns, sneakers to walk in all day, and accessories to keep me safe from the sun. When I get back, I’ll have a full outfit diary of all the outfits I wore as well as a recap of anything I wish I had brought/left at home so stay tuned!
This is making me want to go on vacation! I really like that banana dress!
