As we head into the Holiday season, we can only hope our days will stay merry and bright. I don’t know about you, but as I head into the holiday season my social calendar is packed and I’m running around like a mad woman completing my holiday shopping. I like to think I stay balanced and healthy, but it’s usually a time I run my body into the ground and get a cold.
This year, my husband’s side of the family is spending Christmas with us in Nashville. I’m so excited for them to arrive and am ready to put on my hostess hat. Being the perfect hostess includes cleaning, decorating and meal prepping, but it also means preparing for the worst. So if my in-laws get sick from holiday cheer and traveling, I have everything I need on hand to make them feel their best.
To do this, I head to my local Kroger and check out their medicine aisle and stock up on some basics for the holidays and flu season.
First thing I get is Abreva® Pump Cold Sore and Fever Blister Treatment. Abreva is not for temporary symptom relief, but healing. It delivers the best results when used at the first sign of a cold sore. Nothing is worse than a cold sore during the holidays, trust me! Abreva could heal your cold sore in 2 1/2 days*.
Next is Breathe® Right Extra Clear Nasal Strips. My husband snores when he’s extra tired, so these are essential at my house. The strips provide relief for congestion due to colds, allergies, or a deviated septum and reduce snoring caused by nighttime nasal congestion. What I like about the Breathe Strips is that they’re drug-free and safe to use with any sleep medication you might be taking. They’re also so easy to use!
Within each Breathe Right strip are flexible, “spring-like” bands. On the underside is a special adhesive that, when placed properly on the nose, gently sticks to the area right above the flare of each nostril. As the bands attempt to straighten back to their original shape, they gently lift the sides of the nose and open the nasal passages, providing immediate and continual relief. I get the clear strips since they’re a little easier to peel off.
In case of a cough, I get Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM. With Robitussin Honey, you can fight your cough and help kick your symptoms to the curb. The liquid-strength of Robitussin Honey soothes on contact and provides cough relief for hours. This flavor is the real honey you want, the powerful cough relief you need and is Gluten Free with no artificial colors. Take this and you can jingle all the way and sing holiday carols to your heart’s content!
The last thing you want your cold to develop into is the flu. So, I always have Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold. Compatible with most single-serve coffee makers, these fast-relieving pods work on even your severe symptoms. So, all you do is press. Sip. Relief. They also temporarily reduce a fever and symptoms like minor aches and pains, headache, nasal and sinus congestion, cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation and minor sore throat pain. It’s powerful relief without a prescription.
Remember, Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold and Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM should not be used at the same time.
Finally, stock up on Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes wipe away 99.9% of the most common allergens**. I always have this on hand during cold and flu season!
As I said, I visited my local Kroger store for all these products. Kroger is my go-to for all my flu needs!
