After Christmas, my friend Lindsey of The Fashionably Broke Teacher came into town and we had one goal. We had all these personal goals for the new year but didn’t know where to go to Nashville to meet them. We put our heads together and have come up with a pretty good list of where to go in Nashville to meet those New Years’ goals!
6 PERSONAL GOALS FOR 2022
Goal #1: Exercise more
Exercise is so important to me and I’m currently on a big pilates kick. Two of my favorite local spots are Studio Pilates in The Nations and Bodyrok in Edgehill. If you like spin classes, go to my friend Lee at Quantum in the Gulch or Cycle Bar in Sylvan Park.
Goal #2: Invest more in natural beauty and wellness
For this goal, we headed to Lemon Laine in East Nashville. Before I go any further, this place is so stinking cute. It’s ridiculous. We had a blast taking photos with their amazing decor and testing some natural products. Before you go, book an appointment at their oil bar. It’s $65 a person and the Lemon Laine Oil Bar recognizes that no two people are the same, and that beauty must be, more than anything else, custom.
The Lemon Laine Oil Bar houses a vast assortment of seed, nut, and plant oils, and customers will be invited to smell, touch and experience the oils while Lemon Laine customizes formulas that will suit everyone’s unique beauty goals. Emphasizing powerful ingredients, each will be blended on the spot to meet the specific needs of the customer’s skin.
Goal #3: It’s okay to treat yourself every once in a while. But do it right
Right next to Lemon Laine in East Nashville is a Five Daughters Bakery. If you’re going to splurge, do it right. Five Daughters is famous for its 100-layer, paleo, and vegan doughnuts. Go in there and Instagram away.
Goal #4: Eat better
This goal is hard when you live in Nashville. There are so many great places to eat, that it can break a diet real fast. Luckily, we have some places that are yummy AND good for you. For this, I go to Bartaco. I could literally eat here every day. Bartaco is inspired by the beach culture of Brazil, Uruguay, and Southern California. They’re upscale street food with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment. They also have freshly-squeezed juices, specialty cocktails, and beer out of a bottle. Bartaco evokes a visit to a stylish beach resort and creates an unforgettable experience.
Nashville has one Bartaco location in 12 South. Ask for their ‘secret taco’ or dine on the gluten-free friendly menu. Some of my current favorites are the Mojo Pork Carnitas, Yucatan Red Fish, and Crispy Rock Shrimp.
Goal #5: Take time to think and reflect. Or get coffee with a friend to keep you accountable to your goals
Going out and getting coffee with a friend can be so fun and a much-needed outing. But this year I’m looking for an accountability partner. Someone to hold me to my goals and keep me in line. My favorite spot to meet is Frothy Monkey in the Nations or Headquarters in Sylvan Park.
Goal #6: New home decor
Have you ever been to a store where you have so much fun you never want to leave? That’s how I feel at Apple & Oak. Apple & Oak has furniture, rugs, drinkware, jewelry and so much more! Each piece is unique and has so much charm and personality. The rugs and chairs are my favorites!
And there you have it! A few ways to shop local while meeting your new years personal goals. What are your personal goals for 2018? Share in a comment below!
