This post about the InterContinental New York Barclay is a collaboration with IHG Hotels & Resorts. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Every girl needs a New York City moment at least once a year! I just got back from February New York Fashion Week with Iesha of Living Lesh and we had the BEST time. We did some shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, walked around Grand Central, took in the sights from Times Square as well as saw some shows, and visited some showrooms.
This New York Hotel, the InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel, is a midtown Manhattan 1920’s treasure located at 111 East 48th street. You’re around the corner from Grand Central Terminal and guests can enjoy luxurious rooms, city views, and excellent customer service.
With a heritage like no other, InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel has welcomed well-heeled guests in Midtown Manhattan, the heart of New York City, since 1926. You walk in and the first thing you notice is the jaw-dropping architecture. The ceiling is lit up with arrows and compliments the marble detailing located in the lobby.
I could talk about the architecture and little details for hours, but let’s move on to room options because you’re going to want to stay here and have the best room for your experience!
Expect modern elegance while staying true to the InterContinental New York Barclay historical heritage. Equipped with either a king or queen bed, a polished marble bathroom, and generous wardrobes. Artwork reflective of the Hudson River School style adorns the walls. The Classic Rooms offer a true Park Avenue residential feel.
Classic High Floor Room
Federalist details and a careful selection of timeless furniture, come together in the spacious Classic Guestrooms on a High Floor. Choose between a king bed or two double beds. The rooms boast custom Anichini bedding and an elegant bathroom, reminiscent of 1920s Manhattan décor. This is the room Iesha and I shared for fashion week and it was the perfect amount of space for two people. We had plenty of room for our suitcases, camera equipment, and all our clothes.
The Premium room is appointed for luxury and comfort. Enjoy this room and unwind in Park Avenue luxury. Mural artwork reflective of the Hudson River School style adorns the walls. Choose between a king bed or two double beds. Rooms are complete with custom furniture and Anichini bedding. The attention to detail continues in the soothing marble bathrooms.
Premium High Floor Room
The Premium High Floor Rooms is a tranquil haven with crisp Park Avenue residential details. Carefully selected regional art decorate the room, complete with custom furniture. A room fit for a queen! Or at least a fashion week fashionista.
Premium City View Room
Every room in the InterContinental New York Barclay has been carefully considered to the last detail – and the Premium City View Room is no different. Corner rooms with windows on both sides, frame the setting of a true New York, Park Avenue experience. This room meets all your Gossip Girl and Sex & the City, City Girl dreams!
When you walk into the lobby and look to your left, you’ll see The Parlour. The Parlour pays tribute to the hotel’s 1920’s origin. The food and beverage offerings are crafted in a way to take you on a journey of the hotel’s history, city, and culture, artistically paired in style with local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients. The Parlour is open for breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., all-day bites from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and the bar is open from 12:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. We took advantage of The Parlour and were here every night for a quick nightcap to talk about the meetings we had during fashion week or to talk about the shows we saw and upcoming style trends.
Want to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in bed? Just order room service! Room service is open for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and all-day dining from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
The hotel is also so secure and safe. You walk past all of the people at the front desk to get in and can’t get anywhere on the elevator without a room key. As two girls traveling in the city, having that peace of mind is everything!
As I said before the location is perfect. You’re only a twenty-minute walk from most places and there’s also a subway station around the corner if you’re a metro girl. Lyft and Uber are also easily accessible.
