How to Wear your Spring Favorites in Late Winter

February 26, 2020

This post about how to wear your spring favorites in late winter contains affiliate links.

Guys, I have a MAJOR case of Spring Fever. I do this every year, March rolls around and I start trying to wear my spring pieces out and about. Well, the only problem is I end up freezing to death! I bought two new spring pieces from Free People and wanted to wear them during fashion week, I played around and figured out how to wear them in the NYC cold. Today I’m going to share how I’m styling my spring favorites to be winter appropriate!

Layer Underneath

#TruthTalk, I have some nude-colored leggings and I wear them under everything right now! It’s great under sundresses and skirts. I also have started layering turtlenecks and long sleeve tees under my sundresses.

Layer Over

This tulle skirt needed something over it, so I found a denim skirt to throw on over it. You can also layer with leather jackets, denim jackets, sweaters, you name it!

Pair with Winter Accessories

Style your maxi dress or skirt with booties, scarves, and beanies. You could even through sweaters over the maxi dress and belt it if you’re feeling bold!

Mix Edgy/Feminine Pieces

If you have a floral piece that you’re dying to wear. Mix it with distressed denim, moto boots, or a leather jacket. This will help balance your bright print against winter elements. I had this ruffled gold maxi skirt and paired it with faux croc booties and a western style belt. It helps balance how feminine the skirt is!

Balance Textures

Have some chiffon, lace, or other lighter spring fabrics? Pair with a chunky sweater or cardigan. The chiffon trend is in right now so if you have some bigger, chiffon sleeves on your sweater/shirt, that would go perfectly with a springy skirt or sundress.

Such fun tips! I’m not great at making pieces work in more than one season, unless you count a cardigan or pair of jeans haha. But you got so creative!
