The weather in Nashville only has two temperatures, not hot and crazy hot. The summer days are in full swing, and by 10 o’clock it’s hot, hot, hot. It’s so important to stay hydrated when it’s this hot outside. So today I’m sharing 5 essential tips for staying hydrated in summer.
How to Stay Hydrated in Summer: 5 Essential Tips
- Eat Foods With High Water Content – Did you know there’s plenty of healthy foods that have a high water content? Foods like watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, skim milk, cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, celery, yogurt, tomatoes, bell peppers, cabbage, and grapefruit.
- Cool Down – If you’re hot, take a second to cool down. Go inside and enjoy the air conditioning, sit under an umbrella, jump in the pool, or hold some ice/cold beverage on the inside of your wrist.
- Adjust Your Exercise – If you exercise outside you’re using more energy, which causes you to get tired quickly. Switch to cooler exercises like swimming or cycling. Exercise when it’s cooler. Try the early morning or evening. Make sure you drink water every 15 minutes while exercising and and your clothing is breathable and light colored.
- Drink Pedialyte! – There’s no better feeling than knowing I have the best solution to get back on my feet fast. The summer is short enough, don’t let dehydration take away any of that time!
I drink a ton of water, but I make sure I drink Pedialyte.
I know what you’re thinking: it’s just for kids. WRONG! Adults enjoy Pedialyte too. Pedialyte products have an optimal balance of electrolytes and sugar to feel better fast. It’s the #1 doctor-recommended brand for hydration!

The two products I end up using the most are Pedialyte AdvancedCare® Plus and Pedialyte AdvancedCare®. The Pedialyte AdvancedCare® Plus comes in the Berry Frost packets, and all you do is mix one packet of the powder with 16 fl oz of water. Stir or shake to dissolve.

The Pedialyte AdvancedCare® comes in a Cherry Punch flavor and replaces electrolytes and fluids.

I actually had absolutely no idea that Pedialyte could be so beneficial for adults too. This is such an informational post and really opened by eyes to the benefits of Pedialye. Thanks for sharing, since I’m always lacking in hydration!
I’ve heard about Pedialyte to help with dehydration (because of the extreme heat or a hangover!) I’ve never tried it but I think I will this summer – it’s going to be 110 degrees when I’m in Ontario next month!
These are great tips but I never thought to drink Pedialyte for hydration! I will have to keep that in mind. Thanks so much for sharing this!

I’ve never had Pedialyte, but I know a ton of people that use it as a hangover cure, and I’m sure that’s because it’s so hydrating. Good to consider in the middle of the hot, dry summer!
Great tips and couldn’t have come at a better time with my area currently in a heat wave and breaking 100 today. Thank for sharing! xoxo, Sarah
I drink at least a gallon of water a day, so I stay pretty hydrated. I have never been able to stomach pedialyte!
