The first thing people notice when they meet in person is my smile. For years I was a little ashamed of my smile. When I was a kid I had an overbite and a huge gap between my front teeth which led to me getting braces in the 3rd grade. I did the whole nine yards when it came to braces and had the rubber bands to keep my mouth semi-shut as well as headgear I had to wear every night while sleeping. I also followed all the rules to a T; no gum, hard candy, or popcorn, and I flossed and brushed my teeth multiple times a day every day.
After 4 years, I got my braces off when I was 12. My hard work paid off! Even now 18 years later, I sleep with my retainer to keep my teeth from shifting. Another thing that hasn’t changed over the years is how I take care of my smile. I’m religious with brushing and flossing and didn’t even have a cavity until I was 25 (and to my defense, it was a tiny one). Today I’m partnering with Walmart and LISTERINE® and sharing how I maintain a healthy smile all year long.
How to Maintain a Healthy Smile All Year Long with Listerine
- Brush, brush, brush – I personally replace my toothbrush every three months so I’m always using good bristles to clean my teeth. Toothpaste is important too but I alternate between two, one is for whitening and the other is for good breath. Everyone is different when it comes to toothpaste! I also don’t own an electric toothbrush and prefer putting in all the work myself.
- Scrape your tongue – I bought a tongue scraper this year and it’s been a game-changer. I notice my breath is so much fresher. Bacteria can build up on your tongue and lead to bad breath as well as have a negative impact on your overall oral health. This step isn’t for everyone but I highly recommend it!
- Floss – No, I’m not talking about the dance. Flossing is one of those things that you have to get into the habit of doing or it doesn’t happen. We all know why you need to floss, to get food out from in between your teeth and you should do it at least twice a day.
- Mouthwash – My final step to a healthy smile all year long is LISTERINE®. Indulge your senses while freshening your breath with the new LISTERINE® Green Tea + Mint Blend Mouthwash and LISTERINE® Coconut + Lime Blend Mouthwash. This is made with zero alcohol for a less intense taste and has a limited edition botanically-inspired flavor blend. It contains four essential oils that help kill up to 99% of bad breath germs! I’ve been loving the Green Tea + Mint while my husband likes the Coconut + Lime flavor.

You can order this for yourself at Walmart! Shopping in-store is always an option, but these days I do a lot of Pickup & Delivery or online shipping. If you choose to pick up your groceries you just drive to the designated parking area at Walmart, call, and pop your trunk. Then they put your groceries in your trunk and you’re on your way! Love contact-free! Click the photo below to shop for these products.
Of course, in addition to all this, try not to eat too much sugar that makes your teeth rot, and drink anything with caffeine or dark coloring through a straw so it doesn’t stain your teeth. Follow these tips and you’ll have an amazing smile all year round!

Love Listerine! But I’ve never realized they had different flavors. Those sound super interesting.
OOOOH these flavors sound so good!! Mouthwash is a must! I gotta try these.

You have the most beautiful smile! I can tell you work hard to keep it bright and beautiful 🙂 I’ve never tried these flavored Listerine washes, but I’m totally intrigued. We always have a bottle of Listerine in our medicine cabinet, but the next time we go to Walmart I’ll have to try one of these!
I always say that I’m genetically doomed with poor teeth so I am obsessed with dental hygiene, lol. Mouthwash is a staple in my daily routine but I didn’t know that Listerine carried these flavors. May need to check them out! xoxo, Sarah
Such great tips! I’ve been getting better about flossing but I want a tongue scraper. Now to decide which flavor to get, both sound great!
Listerine is a classic! These are such great tips to keep your smile healthy!
