How to Have a Holiday-Themed Spa Night at Home

December 2, 2020

This post on how to have a holiday-themed spa night at home is sponsored by Unilever and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Years from now when we’re thinking about 2020, I think a lot of us are going to say, “What a year that was!” It’s been a year of grace, flexibility, and reflecting, with flexibility being the big thing. While 2020 has been a crazy year, it’s given us a lot of perspective. One thing that I’ve realized is the importance of self-care.

I don’t know what I was doing before this year but it wasn’t self-care. While social distancing I’ve been able to dedicate more time to self-care and taking care of myself. I love nothing more now than having a self-care night at home! This could mean anything from painting your nails, putting on a face mask, taking an extra-long shower, or indulging in your favorite Christmas candy. Self-care is different for everyone.

My self-care lately has had a seasonal twist to it. Today I’m partnering with Unilever to share a few ideas on how to have a holiday-themed spa night at home with some products I’m currently loving!

How to Have a Holiday-Themed Spa Night at Home

First and foremost, before relaxing and self-care begin, take a second to decorate the bathroom! Add some little decorative trees to your sink or hang some tinsel from the mirror. It’s a small thing and may seem silly but it really helps get you in the holiday spirit!

Second, find a Holiday-themed playlist and blast it. Put your own spin on Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You, or jam out to *NSYNC’s Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. The hairbrush is your microphone and the bathtub is your stage!

Third, get a sparkly bath bomb and have a bubble bath. I take bath’s all the time to relax, plus they help with back pain I might be having. I get the water as hot as it’ll go, get the bubbles going, turn off the lights, and let my problems melt away. My husband is even a fan of bath bombs now!

Fourth, enjoy a beverage. While you’re in the bath relaxing, enjoy a glass of wine or sparkling cider. If you’re feeling extra festive, maybe some peppermint hot chocolate! Calories don’t count when it’s self-care.

Now, let’s talk about products. While you’re soaking in the tub, put a Nexxus® Humectress Hair Masque on your hair. First, wash your hair with Nexxus Therappe Shampoo and then smooth the Nexxus Humectress Hair Mask into your hair from the mid-length to the end. Comb through and leave in for five minutes. Rinse thoroughly and enjoy shiny, healthy-looking hair! I use this as a part of my regular hair cleaning routine for natural movement and a brilliant shine.

Plus, you need to have good hair for all your holiday Zoom calls.

I also like using Nexxus® Color Assure Shampoo and Conditioner because it’s sulfate-free and color-protecting. It’s infused with an exclusive Proteinfusion blend with Elastin Protein and Quinoa for long-lasting color protection, color extension, and color vibrancy for up to 40 washes. The conditioner protects essential proteins within your hair fiber while enhancing the color. It’s designed to revitalize and seal nourishment in color-treated hair!

Now that your hair is shiny, healthy, and looking amazing, let’s move to your skin. In the winter your skin gets dry more easily and needs all the moisture it can get! I use the SheaMoisture® 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Body Wash because it uses the best part of the coconut to leave your skin feeling soft, nourished, and luxuriously clean. Not only does it have 100% Virgin Coconut Oil but it also contains Coconut Milk to moisturize as it gently cleans. Plus, it smells heavenly.

The last step on my spa night at home is adding a little body polish. I use Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk and it leaves my skin feeling smooth after every shower. With whipped texture and indulgent scents, this leaves my skin feeling renewed after every use! It contains Dove’s unique ¼ moisturizing cream and gives a creamy coverage to buff away dry skin and nourish the new layer as well. If Macadamia & Rice Milk isn’t your go-to scent, it also comes in Crushed Almond & Mango Butter!

The best part about a lot of these products is they come in sets of two. That means one for you and one for someone else! If you haven’t gotten your bestie, sister, or mom anything yet this season, give them the gift of pampering. I put all these items in a gift basket with a bath bomb, hot chocolate mix, and a festive mug and am giving it to my sister-in-law for Christmas. Since we’re all at home so much, the gift of self-care is the gift that keeps on giving this season. Plus, save $5 when you buy 2 Dove, SheaMoisture®, or Nexxus® items.
