The crooners sing it best when they say, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. I consider myself the queen of Christmas and LOVE this time of year. I love it so much that I decorate on November 1, and have the holiday music and movies on rotation until December 25.
But there have been years where I just can’t get in the Christmas spirit. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t get rid of your inner Scrooge. Today, I’m going to share with you 5 things you can do to get in the Christmas spirit.
How to Get in the Christmas Spirit
Make and Decorate Christmas Cookies While Listening to Music
I don’t know why but baking and holiday music go hand in hand. It leaves you feeling light, happy, and without a care in the world!
Have a Christmas Movie/TV Show Binge Day.
Turn on the Christmas lights, stock up on hot cocoa and settle in for a binge-watch session. I love watching old Friends’ Christmas TV episodes as well as some holiday movies. My favorites? Holiday Inn, White Christmas, Elf, The Holiday, The Bishop’s Wife, and The Grinch!
Drive Around and Look at all the Christmas Lights
Tim and I do this every year and it’s so much fun. Put on your favorite Christmas album (or playlist), and drive around your neighborhoods to see how everyone decorated this year.
Throw a Christmas Party
Invite your friends over for some holiday merriment! You can have an ugly sweater contest, see who makes the best punch or eggnog, and decorate cookies. This one always works for me when I’m in a holiday funk! (Also, get your holiday party invitations here!)
Find local Christmas activities in your city and get out there!
Nashville is so much fun during the holidays. There was a Santa pub crawl a few weeks ago, there’s constantly music happening at every venue in the city, and our local symphony does the music to movies like Home Alone. Find an activity and get your ho, ho, ho on!
