We got back from Italy late Monday night and hit the ground running. We’re the only people I know who have to pack up their house before a two-week vacation and move the day after returning home. We’re in our apartment and I’m surrounded by boxes. I need to unpack but I can’t stop looking at our pictures from Italy. It feels like a dream!
I’m working on my travel guides for each city we visited. In the meantime, I wanted to do a review of the hotel we stayed at in Milan, Hotel Straf.
After a 10 hour flight from Miami to Milan, we were exhausted. We arrived at the airport around 9 a.m. and all we wanted was a quick 2 hour nap. The price for a taxi from the airport to our hotel near the Duomo was ridiculous so we took a train to the subway station and took a subway to the Duomo and our hotel.
If you’re a shopper like me, Hotel Straf is right next to The Galleria. A huge, glass ceiling shopping center with stores like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Ferrari and Furla. It was nice having window shopping right around the corner! We were also directly across from the Duomo. We could see it and hear music playing at night and was literally the perfect location in Milan.
Our room at Hotel Straf was roomy and comfortable. It had a ledge where you could open the window, sit and watch people from your room and a great bathroom. But to top it all off, our room had a massage chair. I’d sit in it for about an hour a night and let the chair work out kinks in my back and neck and it was the great way to end a day where we walked over 10 miles.
The bed was so comfortable. The perfect place to fall into when jet lag hits. They had USB ports by the bed so we could charge our phones without worrying about the adapter. The bathrooms were also a great size with lots of sink space and a great shower/tub.
In addition to a perfect location and rooms, Hotel Straf also offered breakfast which was amazing. It was nice to just get ready and head downstairs for breakfast and not worry about finding a place to eat. Then at night they had a bar where you could sit inside or outside, depending on the weather.
Out of all the places we stayed in Italy, the Hotel Straf was my favorite! When we visit again (which I plan to) I’ll definitely be staying at the Hotel Straf again!
