Last week Tim and I began our trek up north. Usually the drive from Nashville to Rochester, NY is 13 hours! We would fly but hate leaving Gatsby and our airline points are blacked out during the holidays. This year we decided that on the way up, we’d drive 8 hours and stop in Cleveland. It’s so nice to break things up and enjoy a nice comfortable bed. When looking for a hotel we look for dog friendly, comfy bed, and a cool location! This was our first time in Cleveland and we found everything we were looking for at the Drury Hotel!
Completely renovated, the Drury Plaza Hotel Cleveland Downtown is the former Board of Education building. The 189-room hotel sits downtown and boasts more than 3,900 square feet of meeting space. The two-story lobby features two fully restored murals painted by Cora Holden in 1931. Drury Hotels began the restoration and preservation of the building in 2014, which is within walking distance of FirstEnergy Stadium (Cleveland Browns), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field and the Quicken Loans Arena.
Our room had a little living room and a bedroom. We had two TV’s so Tim watched football in one room while Gatsby and I snuggled in bed and watched a Christmas movie. In the morning we enjoyed their complimentary breakfast while we caught up on work on their free WiFi. Before heading to New York we walked around the neighborhood a little and enjoyed some local sights. Cleveland seems like such a cool town, I’d love to come back and visit when the weather’s warmer!
I would absolutely recommend the Drury Hotel. All of the Drury’s I’ve stayed in have been top-notch and if I’m in Cleveland I’ll absolutely be staying there again!
