If you ask my friends what they think of when I throw an event like a brunch, wedding shower, baby shower, or family gathering, they’d tell you a waffle bar. I’m famous for getting a ton of ingredients, making waffles on the waffle iron, and seeing what flavor combos my friends come up with! It’s really interesting seeing how creative people can be with flavors and ingredients. So today, I thought I’d share with you how to do your own DIY waffle bar menu and some fun ingredients to spice it up!
DIY Waffle Bar Menu Ideas
Before every get-together, I always head to my local Publix to do some shopping. Publix has everything I need and I know that everything there is of the highest quality. Save now on Lily’s, Kodiak Cakes, Simple Mills, and Epic Pork Rinds at Publix! You’ll save $5 now when you buy any combo of 5 products from the below brands.
- Lily’s Chocolate Bars (2 for $7)
- Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Mix ($4.99)
- Simple Mills Soft Baked Bars & Cookies (2 for $8)
- Epic Pork Rinds (2 for $6)
So now that you know about the amazing deals happening at Publix, let’s dive into waffle bar ingredients!
Every waffle bar starts with waffles. My go-to is Kodiak Cakes! Kodiak Cakes are crafted with 100% whole grains, non-GMO ingredients, and packed with 14 grams of protein. To make waffles, you just get 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of batter, and a tablespoon of oil. My waffles turn out so fluffy and delicious! They’re a great base to build on.

Next, I head to produce and get some fruit to cut up. Right now, berries are in season so that means blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries! Of course, bananas are always good on waffles too. In the fall I also love cutting up some juicy apples. You really can’t go wrong with fruit on waffles.
The one thing guests usually put on their waffles? Chocolate! So head to the candy section for some of Lily’s Sweets. Lily’s Chocolate bars are delicious and my two favorite flavors are the Milk Chocolate Salted Almond and the Dark Chocolate Almond. These chocolate bars have no sugar added and are sweetened with stevia. The candy bars have little pieces that are easy to break off and serve.

If your guests are known to have a sweet tooth, you also need to pick up some Simple Mills Soft Baked Bars.
These are perfect to crumble on top of your waffle. They have the new soft-baked almond flour bars in the nutty banana bread. These are made with only whole food ingredients and nothing artificial. I hate when bars are hard and crunchy and love how soft and delicious these are.
The most unusual thing I’ve ever seen on a waffle? EPIC Provisions Pork Rinds! A friend was pregnant and had a serious craving for pork rinds. I usually always have them as a joke to remind her of her crazy craving, but these are great to have around to snack on! They have 8 grams of protein, are keto and paleo-friendly, and are raised without antibiotics. Pork rinds are also delicious with dips and salsa, so if you have a friend who isn’t a waffle/breakfast person, it’s always nice to have some snack food for them to munch on while everyone else enjoys their waffles.
Lastly, don’t forget the condiments! Chocolate syrup, cinnamon, butter, syrup, caramel. Get crazy! My go-to waffle combo is bananas, blueberries, strawberries, Lily’s Chocolate, Simple Mills, and chocolate syrup!

This is the best idea ever (quite literally.) I always love doing a bar style at home because it gives everyone flexibility to make their meal their own. When it comes to waffles, I want the chocolate but the Mr doesn’t!
