It’s summertime and you know what that means – grilling! We love hanging outside during the summer and grilling. My favorite thing to grill is pork. Pork is simple, versatile, and flavorful! I’ve got a coca-cola pork ribs recipe today that you’re going to LOVE.
Coca Cola Pork Ribs Recipe
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 6 1/2 hours
INGREDIENTS
- Smithfield® Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs
- 2 cans of cola
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 onion
- 2 cups of ketchup
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- Pork BBQ seasoning
DIRECTIONS
1: Pick Up Your Pork
I get my pork and all my ingredients at my local Walmart. My go-to pork is Smithfield® Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs. Walmart has fresh pork and it’s high quality! Smithfield is my go-to brand for fresh pork, but feel free to purchase your preferred brand.
2: Preheat Your Grill
For this recipe, 225°F and set up for indirect cooking. Fill a drip pan with water and place it under the cooking surface. Also, make sure you add woodchips for smoke.
3: Time to Season
Take your Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs out of the package season your ribs with BBQ season and rub them into the meat. Marinated fresh pork and fresh pork ribs have great flavor and are an easy go-to for summer grilling.

4: Place on the Grill
Place the ribs directly onto the grill and cook for 3 hours at 225°.
5: Bring on the Cola
Pack each individual half rack of ribs in aluminum foil and pour about 1/4 of a can of cola into the foil with the ribs.
6: Wrap the Ribs Up and Return to the Cooker
Cook the wrapped ribs for 2 hours at 225°F.
7: Time for Some Marinating
Heat oil in a medium pan and add the garlic and onion. Once the garlic and onion are soft add one can on cola. Then add the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and chili powder. Stir and bring to boil. Then let it simmer for an hour.
Step 8: Add Cola Mixture to Ribs
Once the ribs have cooked for two hours and the sauce has simmered, take the ribs out of the foil and brush the cola mixture on the ribs. Add them back to the grill and let the ribs cook for an hour. After 30 minutes, feel free to brush more of the cola mixture on the ribs!
Step 9: Time to Eat
Once the ribs have cooked an hour, take them off the grill, and enjoy!
Now, an important thing to keep in mind when grilling pork chops, loins, and roasts; they’re the best when cooked at 145℉ with a 3-minute rest. If you like your pork medium rare: 145-150℉, medium: 150-155℉, medium well: 155-160℉, and well: 160℉.
The prep time is quick, but the coca-cola pork ribs take a while to marinate and cook. It may take a few hours but it’s SO worth it! While the ribs were on the grill, we’d go out and check on them and my mouth would water in anticipation. These are the best spare ribs I’ve ever tasted and worth every second.
If you’re looking for more info on fresh pork, check it out here and at your local Walmart!

Growing up, my friend’s dad ALWAYS marinated his grilled meat in Coca-Cola. I thought it was nutty at the time, but then I tasted it and realized it’s DELISH. Love this concept for ribs!

I need to make these! Perfect for summer.
Sounds great, but unfortunately I can’t have it since I’m vegetarian and so is my husband. I do have a lot of friends that love ribs and have mentioned a similar recipe. I’ll share this with them. I bet that it’s the perfect recipe for this 4th of July. Thanks for sharing!
