Growing up, I was never comfortable in swimsuits. I wore tankini’s, shorts a t-shirt, anything to hide my body. While I’m not ready to talk about it on the blog, I have had a long and hard journey to loving the skin I’ve been given. I’m getting better at being confident in a bikini and love all the things that Aerie and the #AerieReal campaign are doing.
#AerieReal is a body image campaign that was launched by aerie in spring 2014 in response to an announcement by American Eagle in January 2014. American Eagle released news that it was going to discontinue using supermodels and digitally retouching its models to encourage positive self-image. So they use real women of all shapes and sizes to model their swimwear. I’m standing by this and all my photos below aren’t photoshopped at all. So this is me, flaws and all!
Aerie sent me two swimsuits that I absolutely love and I felt so confident in them! They’re also SUPER affordable and under $30!
I have a long torso and often have trouble finding one pieces that fit, but this grey lace-up fit perfectly. It also comes in a lot of other colors! This bikini top is also great since I’m so flat chested. The racer back keeps everything in place and I don’t have to worry about it coming untied.
