I don’t know about you but finding ways to practice self-care is such a hard thing for me to do. I think about doing it and applaud people who do, but when it comes to me, I tend to put myself on the back burner. Last week, I had a minor surgery that will hopefully help some pain I’ve been struggling with for a long time.
One thing about my recovery was it took me a while to bounce back. I was so tired and worn out before surgery. I had been going, going, going with work, events, and travel. So while binge-watching TV last week I made a promise to myself to each week find ways to practice self-care.
Today I have five things you can do, that you will love and you’ll thank yourself for later!
Five Ways to Practice Self-Care
Go to the Chiropractor
To me, the chiropractor is like the spa. I love going and getting adjusted. It helps my posture, how I move and also helps with headaches that I have. A chiropractor isn’t something that’s necessary but it’s nice to go!
Get a Massage
Life is stressful, and a massage is a perfect way to unwind. I don’t like really hard, deep tissue messages but do enjoy a light massage. Take an hour for yourself and relax. I promise it’ll help with tension and make your day better.
Manicure/Pedicure
Who doesn’t love having pretty nails and getting your hands/feet rubbed? I’ve gotten to where I don’t even take my phone in anymore. I just sit, close my eyes or watch the food network on the TV.
Once a Week, Sleep In
When your schedule allows, have one day a week where you sleep in. Sometimes it’s a Saturday, sometimes it’s Wednesday. But sleep late, spend some time in bed, and have a lazy morning. It’s such a nice luxury and lets you catch up on the sleep we all need!
Buy Yourself Some Flowers
Who needs a secret admirer when you can buy yourself your favorite flowers! Gerber Daisies are my favorite so when I’m at the store once a week, I buy myself a pretty bouquet. Put them on your kitchen table, office, bedside table, anywhere to make you happy!
I love this post so much! Self care is so important and I often forget about it when I get busy, which is when we need it most. I need to start treating myself to flowers from Trader Joe’s and sleep in a little more often 🙂
These are such great tips! It’s so important to take care of ourselves!!

I am such an advocate of self care! I make it a point to take time for myself every day, even if it’s just 10 minutes. So important!

This is such a great reminder for Monday morning!
I love sleeping in at least once a week, and buying fresh flowers…it’s the best!
Great tips Greta; and such an important post. Self-care can be so hard; I really like fresh as well but used to feel so guilty spending money on them. I working at getting better at that and treating myself to a bouquet once a week without feeling guilty!

I used to go to the chiropractor a lot more often then I do now! I need to do that again!
I’ve never been to the chiropractor! It kind of scares me haha- but it seems like it could be super beneficial! I have really bad posture- so maybe that could help?! xo
