I know the official first day of summer isn’t until June 20, but with temps reaching 80+ degrees in Nashville, it sure feels like summer! Nashville has a small window where summer is enjoyable and lovely. But soon it gets humid, hot, and sweaty. I’d rather be hot than cold so the heat normally doesn’t both me too much. My secret though is breezy clothing that isn’t too stuffy.
I’ve mentioned before that this year I’ve been more intentional with my clothing purchases. I’ve been trying to avoid fast fashion and invest in good, high-quality pieces that will last longer as well as pieces that are more timeless and less trendy. Yeah, I can’t buy clothes as often and I buy one piece at a time and save in-between, but I’ve been loving the pieces I bought and appreciating the beautiful detailing they have.
One place I go for designer items is Shopbop. They have lower-cost brands like Free People, Madewell and BB Dakota but they also carry Zimmerman, Balmain, and some designer accessories. I’ve gotten a couple of my higher-priced pieces from there for summer and today thought I’d share my 5 favorite items for summer and why I gravitated towards them!
5 Shopbop Summer Favorites
Sea Broomstick Tiered Dress
I never heard of Sea until I laid eyes on this dress. This was my Easter dress this year and while I’m not normally a purple person, I loved the color. I also loved the exaggerated sleeves, tiered waist, and just how different the piece is. Nothing in my closet compares to this! Now that I’ve discovered Sea, they’re a brand I most definitely will be buying again.
Cinq a Sept Sori Dress
I got my first Cinq a Sept dress this year on sale. It was a navy, feathered slip dress that I can’t wait to wear to fashion week this fall. Another piece I scooped up was the Sori Dress. While it may look dressy, I’ve dressed it down with sandals and a straw hat and worn it at events around town and running errands. I’m usually a size 4/6 but an 8 in Cinq a Sept pieces, so definitely look at the sizing chart before buying.
Farm Rio Raining Bananas Shirt
Farm Rio has been a brand I’ve been crushing so hard on this year! Their prints are so fun and the price point isn’t too terribly high. I have a mini dress from them in addition to this banana print shirt! This was a hit in Miami paired with shorts and a bandeau top. I left the top completely unbuttoned and tied it at the waist. It’s so breezy and comfortable and have styled it with skirts and over slip dresses too.
Self Portrait Embroidered Shorts
One of my summer rules is to have some fancy shorts to wear when it gets really warm. Sometimes if you’re going to a meeting, denim cut offs aren’t going to cut it. So have some shorts like these embroidered ones from Self-Portrait. You can pair them with a simple white tee and high heeled sandals and look like the professional businesswoman you are.
Ulla Johnson Maude Dress
It was love at first sight when I saw this dress. It has ruffles, exaggerated sleeves and it’s currently on sale! I’m a size 6 in this dress and I couldn’t love it more. It’s great for brunch, weddings, graduations, you name it.
