Over the past couple of months, we’ve come to the realization that my husband Tim is slightly lactose intolerant. Since we figured it out, I’ve been getting some dairy-free alternatives for him like almond/soy milk and non-dairy ice cream. We were at the grocery store one day and saw the Häagen-Dazs® Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Non-Dairy. We took it home and Tim LOVED it! Since then, it’s been his splurge/sweet treat for a special occasion.
One thing Tim has been missing is milkshakes. I found some recipes online, have been playing around and found a great two-step non-dairy milkshake that he and I both love. I’m excited to share it with you today!
So first thing’s first, get the Häagen-Dazs® Non-Dairy ice cream. I headed to my local Food Lion, and got the Häagen-Dazs® Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle Non-Dairy and Häagen-Dazs® Coconut Caramel Non-Dairy in the ice cream aisle. While most non-dairy options simply start by substituting soy, almond or cashew milk, every flavor in our Häagen-Dazs Non-Dairy collection begins with a core ingredient, like real pieces of Belgian chocolate, actual peanut butter, or real coconut cream. The result? Indulgent non-dairy flavors with a creamier texture and an authentic taste that shines through.
Next, you get your favorite almond or soy milk. For this recipe, I got some dark chocolate almond milk.
If you’re making a milkshake just for yourself, I use 2-3 scoops of ice cream and one cup of almond milk. If you’re making it for two, just double the scoops and cups! If you like a thicker milkshake, use less almond milk. Now blend on the milkshake setting and enjoy!
For the shake pictured, I used the Häagen-Dazs® Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle Non-Dairy. It turned out so creamy and chocolatey! Häagen-Dazs® is one of my favorite ice cream brands because Haagen-Dazs helps people find small moments of personal indulgence in the day to recognize and reward themselves for all their effort to make life extraordinary.
If you want a reward, definitely treat yourself to some dairy-free ice cream. Also, if you live near a Food Lion, here is a coupon for $0.75 cents off!
