As I write this, my closet looks like a tornado went through it. Clothes are half hanging on the hangers, tossed over racks and bars and pieces lie on the floor. This can only mean one thing. Time to go to Chicago! Today I head to the Windy City for The Blog Societies Conference (#tbscon). While I’m there am heading to Lollapalooza!
I knew what to pack for #tbscon since I went last year and know what to expect. But Lolla is a different story. What does a girl wear to a famous music festival? I’ve done my homework and am sharing with you what I found today.
Backpack full of essentials: This includes sunscreen, a hat, portable phone charger, raincoat, cash, hand sanitizer, earplugs, band-aids, water, bug spray, kleenex and a towel to sit on. Do not bring an umbrella, they’ve been banned this year. The Chicago Tribune also has a great article on what you can and can’t bring.
I’ve read a lot of the vendors don’t take card and only take cash or a payment system found through the Lolla website. Get cash before so you’re not hit with ATM fees!
Eat 3 Meals a Day: All of the website I read recommended drinking a TON of water and eating three solid meals since you’ll be standing, walking and jamming out all day. Also be careful with the day drinking!
Arrive early for headliners. The Lolla lineup is incredible this year and I’d hang out there all day if I had the time. Go listen to Arcade Fire on Sunday (their new album ‘Everything Now’ is brilliant), the Killers Friday night (their new single ‘Run for Cover’ reminds me of Sam’s Town).
Prepare for the worst: Label your phone, camera and wallet with your phone number and email address in case you lose them. I’ll probably leave my camera and credit cards and just bring my phone and cash. I want to pack light for the evening shows!
What to wear: I had Coachella vibes in mind, but Lolla is a different game. You can get away with shorts and tennis shoes/booties, so be comfortable and watch the weather! Friday is supposed to be chilly while the other 3 days will be pretty warm. I’ve packed a couple of tees/skirts/shorts options with my Adidas sneakers.
I also plan on doing some cool things with my hair this weekend! Bed Head by TGI sent me a package with a bunch of great hair sprays and I’m excited to play around with all this cool product this weekend.
For The Blog Societies conference I’ll be wearing my hair curly most of the time. My curls do best with hot rollers, touched up with a curling iron. First I towel dry my hair and spray in the Catwalk ‘Haute Iron’ spray and then adding some of the new ‘Get Twisted’ Bed Head Spray (it’s not available in stores yet!). I also can get away with not washing my hair all weekend if it’s curly and I use the Bed Head ‘Oh Bee Hive‘ Dry Shampoo! Finally, if my hair is looking a little dull I’ll spray in the ‘Headrush’ shine spray.
I have a feeling I’m going to have a very good hair weekend!
Bed head sent me a bunch of other products but due to suitcase space, the 4 products I mentioned will be the best for days of conferencing and nights at Lollapalooza. Bed Head by TIGI products can be purchased at Ulta Beauty or on Ulta.com.
If you’ll be at Lollapalooza this weekend come hang out with me at the Bed Head Hotel! Bed Head Hotel is taking place at The Hard Rock Hotel (230 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601) on August 4th + 5th from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be a Bed Head Style Bar, makeup & mani touch-ups, a DJ booth and more!
Stop by for a boho braid, twisted topknot or faux hawk that will last all Lolla long! I’ll be there Saturday with a few of my TBS blogger babes and hope to see you there!
As of now I have a Friday night ticket to Lolla to see The Killers, Blink-182 and so much more! I also have my eye out for a Saturday night ticket to see Chance the Rapper.
